It's because the wolrd is coming to a close ending, an ending that will never be fulfilled unless it is God's will. I've heard of many kinds of prophecies, from Nostradamus to the Bible code. Going through some of the Celt and Mayan Prophecies... My conclusion, this world we now know will be doomed on 2012/December/23rd
